Beginner skiers and snowboarders will find the best terrain in the Canyon Lodge and Eagle Lodge base areas where there are dedicated learning areas and fun runs for progression.

There are a lot of fun runs in the Backside area of Mammoth that offer more advanced terrain. These runs are more challenging, but they’re also a great option for a day of fun with friends and family.

Mammoth is a big mountain and it’s not easy to ski there on a windy day, but if the weather cooperates, it’s always worth a visit in the Spring and Summer when Mammoth can be accessed with ease. When the weather is skeezy, the upper part of the mountain will be shut down, but the lower slopes are usually open. The good news is that Mammoth is located in a snowstorm corridor, which typically sees plenty of snow.

Mammoth’s snowfall is usually very consistent, averaging 400 inches of snow a season. This is not an uncommon amount of snow for the mountain, and it allows Mammoth to keep skiing through July 4th weekend every year.
